Established in 2008, Red Stick CrossFit is one of the first CrossFit affiliates in the Baton Rouge area. We pride ourselves on a welcoming and fun community led by coaches who care and strive to provide our members with the best hour of their day.

CrossFit is a high-intensity fitness program that combines elements of weightlifting, gymnastics, and cardiovascular training. It focuses on functional movements—like lifting, jumping, and running—that mimic everyday activities, aiming to improve overall strength, endurance, and agility. Workouts, known as WODs (Workouts of the Day), are varied and scalable, meaning they can be adapted to different fitness levels. The program emphasizes community, with participants often working out in groups, supporting each other to achieve personal fitness goals and push their limits.

If you are new to CrossFit, we require that you take our foundations course after you have attended a free trial class. Our CrossFit Foundations course is designed to introduce beginners to the fundamental movements and principles of CrossFit. It covers key exercises, proper form, and basic workout strategies to build a strong foundation for future training. The course emphasizes technique, safety, and gradually increasing intensity, helping participants develop confidence and competence before progressing to more advanced workouts.

Foundations Course

Our foundations course consists of a max of 4 1:1 sessions with one of our coaches and is for anyone who has no CrossFit experience. We’ll teach you the basics, emphasize proper technique, and you’ll get a kick-ass workout too.

What to expect

In each session, a coach will teach and demonstrate the foundational movements we use in CrossFit, as well as review your range of motion and various scales to get you moving safely. Following the instruction portion of the class, you will participate in a CrossFit-style workout. We guarantee you will get sweaty and you will have fun.

Once you are competent in the movements we use daily in CrossFit you may graduate to our regular CrossFit classes and get the full CrossFit experience!

What to expect?

Workouts can be adjusted in weight, intensity, and certain mechanics to scale to the experience and fitness levels of any individual, be it a total fitness beginner or elite competitive CrossFitter.

CrossFit is designed to be constantly varied, meaning everyday is different so you never get bored. All workouts are based on the core movements of life, and these movements reflect the best aspects of gymnastics, weightlifting, rowing and more.

CrossFit is Coached By A Professional

All of our CrossFit Classes are coach-led and follow a planned progression roughly 60 minutes in duration and follow this basic structure: A certified coach will guide you through warming up, followed by movement instruction and demonstration for the workout. The Coach will supervise and correct any movement performed by you during the workout.
